Creating ticket templates

In the incert ticketing system, A4 images of the finished ticket are uploaded. The so-called "template" forms the background of the ticket, onto which the system dynamically prints certain elements – such as date and time, the barcode, or the price. These print elements are, of course, not part of the template itself.

During project implementation, you will discuss the templates with your project manager. However, even in a live system, new templates can be created. The following explanations serve as a guideline for your design agency.

Process

  1. Create an initial draft and send it to incert
  2. Wait for feedback from incert to see whether adjustments are required. Ideally, also provide a version with example print elements (sample dedication text, etc.)
  3. If desired, create additional variations (additional motifs with different images, but identical print positions) for different tickets
  4. The final templates are sent to incert or uploaded into the system by yourself.

Structure

The placement of the individual areas is generally freely selectable. The template below serves only as an example of how a ticket can be structured and which elements can be printed.

Dynamic print elements

The following elements can be printed onto the template by the system. Of course, not all elements need to be used.

  1. Title (name of the item, e.g. Day pass, Ticket, Admission for …)
  2. Service description, e.g. admission, drink, sauna … (if not already included in the title)
  3. Barcode (allow at least 4.5 x 1.5 cm) or QR code
  4. Event name
  5. Event date / time
  6. Owner/buyer details (name, address …)
  7. Issue date, order number
  8. Ticket price (printed as “Ticket price: € …”)

For tickets there is no option for personalization with images, dedication text, etc.! There is also no template selection available to the user (only one A4 template per ticket item)!

Static print elements

The following content should be planned directly as a part of the JPG template.

  • Company details (company address, contact data) in the header or footer
  • Small print on the ticket (e.g. note “Not redeemable for cash”)
  • Images, logo, graphic elements, and general headings such as “Ticket” (see above)

Fonts

The following standard fonts can be used by the system for printing. Unfortunately, custom fonts cannot be used for dynamic system printing.

If a text is a fixed part of the template (for example the word “Ticket” which is in the template image file and not printed by the incert system), a different font can of course be used for this.

Specifications and delivery

The following specifications must be strictly observed:

Format A4 – portrait or landscape (uniform for all items)
Dimensions 2480 x 3508 px or 3508 x 2480 px
Resolution 300 dpi
Color mode RGB
File format JPEG image file
Size ideally 1 MB, maximum 1.5 MB

Send the templates without dynamic text (see explanation above) or upload them directly into the system. In addition, we require one template with example print elements so that we know where / how the dynamic prints should be placed.

Common mistakes

  • Resolution too low for printing (300 dpi required)
  • Incorrect color mode (e.g. CMYK instead of RGB)
  • Incorrect file format (e.g. PDF instead of JPEG)
  • Files too large (max. 1.5 MB per file)
  • Unusable fonts (only the standard fonts listed above can be used for dynamic printing. Fixed texts on the template – such as the word “Ticket” – can also be set on the template in a custom font)
  • Mix of portrait and landscape formats (selectable but must be uniform for all items in the system)
